Homemade Teriyaki Sauce (Alpha-Gal Friendly and Dairy Free)
One of my biggest AG anxieties is jarred sauces. Too many ingredients. Too many ‘ifs.’ So, I figured out how to make my own! This one recipe is so versatile- it works on chicken, veggies, salmon, or even fried tofu!
Homemade Teriyaki Glaze (Alpha-Gal Friendly and Dairy Free)

minutesI think I’ve made it a mission to make all of my own condiments, and this one might be in my top 2-behind ketchup!
Ingredients
1 cup soy sauce (At time of writing this recipe, ‘Kikkoman Soy Sauce’ was listed green/safe on the FIG app for alpha-gal.)
–or coconut aminos or tamari. —1/4 to 1/2 cup water to dilute saltiness(to your taste)
1/4 cup(maybe a tiny bit more) honey
2 TBSP rice vinegar
1 Tsp sesame oil(more to taste)
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 TBSP freshly grated ginger(it really is worth it)
1TBSP + 1 Tsp cornstarch + 2 TBSP water to make a cornstarch slurry
Directions
- Add soy sauce, honey, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to a saucepan.
- Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in cornstarch slurry(whisked separately), and simmer 2-3 minutes until thickened and glossy.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.
- Store in fridge in a sealed jar for up to 5 days.
